"The field Semantic Computing applies technologies in natural languageprocessing, data and knowledge engineering, software engineering, computer systems and networks, signal processing and pattern recognition, and anycombination of the above to extract, access, transform and synthesize the semantics (contents) of multimedia, texts, services and structured data."
Here is my take:
Semantic computing is a vision of computing based on semantics shared between machines and people. It supports and exploits intrinsic, intended, and emergent meanings (content) in all aspects of computing, encompassing programming, algorithms, information management, and human interactions within devices, as part of communications, and across the Web. Semantics involves the use of formal descriptions, languages, and models, often encoded in metadata, knowledge, and representation of agreements (as in ontologies) to capture the content of multimedia, texts, services, and structured data so that it may be extracted, shared, synthesized and transformed. Semantic techniques foster the development emerging forms of computing, such as semantic Web, and entirely new forms, such as bio-inspired computing, as well as enhance traditional techniques of information retrieval, management of data (including multimedia and multimodal) and artificial intelligence (e.g., natural language processing machine learning, and computational intelligence), leading to more efficient and scalable information processing and higher-quality computer-human interaction.

-Your take on Semantics is a little too long to gulp. I think actually it should be a tree something like what is given below.
- The semantic web is an improvement on the RDBMS model where the semantics is implicit in the definition of entities, tables etc.
-The semantic web model deals with the RDF triples.
-RDF triples model is a subset of FOPC.
- FOPC is a subset of LOGIC(FORMAL LOGIC).
-Is there something beyond LOGIC?
-The Tree root (beyond LOGIC?= features needed to understand like humans.
LOGIC-Statements(HIGHER ORDER+TEMPORAL+MODAL)
FOPC Predicates(e.g VERBNET ,SUO-KIF word net mappings)
RDF Triples(Simple Predicates standardized)
RDBMS/XML(advantage XML)
-The Semantic Web needs additional training beyond HTML authoring. And so what about the existing non Semantic web sites.Semantic web started in the first place to reduce the burden of search.
-In the context of the web Semantics for an app is required to get the relevant pages and act on it. It is a logical Agent.
-If action is not required you could even use some kind of clustering.

I personally beleive SUO-KIF +FOPC Reasoner/Theorem prover is the way to go.
Semantic Computing (SC) is defined as "Computing with (machine processable) Descriptions of Content and Intentions." It brings together those disciplines concerned with connecting the (often vaguely formulated) intentions of humans with computational content that includes, but is not limited to, structured and semi-structured data, multimedia data, text, programs, services and, even, network behavior.
